25 Hip Hop Classic LP's and a track from each, culled by the Instigator. Forgive the shitty VEVO ads that pop up before a couple of these.

-FUPPETS- Loves Forgotten Hip Hop
Anytime an "Official History" is fabricated by pendejos there are ommissions. There are many old Hip Hop classics that no one plays anymore. -FUPPETS- wants to share a few. MC Serch gets it started, with the help of Chubb Rock and a very young Nas. Special Ed, at 16 yrs old, could rhyme with the best. De La Soul's Buhloone Mindstate LP should be considered one of the high water marks, but is denied because of the "official" acceptance of the 1st De La LP as the great one. De La Soul always got better and better. These fux just don't know.

-FUPPETS- Videos Of The Day: KURTIS BLOW, SIR MIX-A-LOT
Live on Soul Train, this is Kurtis Blow performing his classic "The Breaks."
Oh yeah, it's Friday.
KURTIS BLOW - The Breaks
-FUPPETS- hates when people lump Sir Mix-A-Lot as a one-hit-wonder because all they know is "Baby Got Back." The following song was HUGE back in the 80's when it first came out. HUGE.

The World Needs PUBLIC ENEMY Now More Than Ever
It is the opinion of -FUPPETS- that what the world needs now is a mainline hypodermic full of PUBLIC ENEMY. What happened to outraged intelligent music? Oh yeah. . . the fuckers bought into the "fame" life-path, and therefore ended up singing about superfluous bullshit like how much money they think they have, how much money they think they spend, how many women they can pay to fuck them, how many ridiculously over-priced automobiles they can reference in a single verse. NONE OF THIS BULLSHIT MATTERS. None of it.
Chuck D once wrote some advice to any up-and-coming rappers out there. He said something to the effect that you must keep on learning new things, studying, reading, learning history, science, art, literature, because a mind that stops learning is a stagnant mind, and only stagnant rhymes will flow from a stagnant mind.
I think that not too many people took that advice to heart. It applies in rhyme as well as in life. Your brain is only as strong as what you put in it, and only as powerful as what you do with it. Mindless drivel over bullshit beats is the quick path to being easily forgotten.

GURU, In Memoriam
Guru, the legendary rapper of GangStarr and Jazzmatazz fame died yesterday. A month ago -FUPPETS- had talked about his then-recent heart-attack and the coma that followed. Doctors performed surgery on Guru (real name Keith Elam), who seemed to be doing better as a result.
However, it appears that his medical issues had left him very weak, and he died yesterday, April 19, 2010.
Originally paired with DJ Premier back in 1985, with whom Guru had a falling out and had not talked to for 7 years, and then joining up with producer Solar, Guru had the lyricism, rhymes and voice to make -FUPPETS- hair stand on end. He will be missed.

-FUPPETS- Wishes Guru from Gang Starr a Complete Recovery
One of the greatest MC's to ever touch a microphone, GURU has suffered a heart attack and slipped into a coma the other day. The latest word is that he has had successful surgery, but nothing yet has been detailed regarding his current condition, or whether he has come out of the coma.
Along with D.J. Premier, Gang Starr laid it down and showed that an MC can be intelligent, verbose, and still hard-hitting. Talking about the voice alone, only Chuck D of Public Enemy, and super-legend Rakim can stand with Guru, as far as -FUPPETS- is concerned.
So, in honor of Guru, and hoping he recovers fully, -FUPPETS- brings you a small sampling from the man himself.

In the early 90's, Guru created a couple of LP's titled JAZZMATAZZ Volumes I and II. In them he combined Jazz and Hip Hop in a magnificent way. Here is a track from Jazzmatazz Volume II.

-FUPPETS- Video Of The Day: Old-School Hip-Hop
Yes. -FUPPETS- has a deep love for the old-school hip-hop music, and -FUPPETS- tries it's hardest to spread the word about the old classics. It is in the spirit of the new 2010 year ahead that -FUPPETS- looks back at these classic video clips.

-FUPPETS- PSA disguised as a Mongolian Music Video
Many thanks to -FUPPETS- co-hort, Cargo De Pajamas, for providing -FUPPETS- with this great video. Here is how he put it.
TATAR - "Esreg Udur"
"I was listening to NPR Radio this morning and they were talking about the rampant alcoholism in Mongolia. They played a song from a Mongolian Hip Hop group that had a song they were making "fun" of it. I thought it was a great video and song. I like how they are rapping like they are drunk and it fits just right." - ( Cargo de Pajamas )

-FUPPETS- Video Of The Day: GANGSTARR
Today's -FUPPETS- Video Of The Day is from one of the most underrated and unbelievably fabulous hip hop groups ever, GANGSTARR. Composed of DJ Premier on the tables and Guru on the mic, these dudes held it down for intelligent rhymes, incredible lyricism, and seriously tasty beats. Many thanks to Mike Instigator for turning -FUPPETS- onto Gangstarr way back in the day.
