-FUPPETS- Loves Bugs and Scanning Electron Microscopes

The good people at the UK periodical the Telegraph have put together a great slide-show of some spectacular images. The images of various bugs/spiders and other assorted creepy crawlies have been individually colored to help differentiate the various parts of their anatomy.
-FUPPETS- has always loved scanning electron microscopes and their ability to give us a glimpse of a world so small that it is usually overlooked by everyone. The image below is the head of a fly maggot. It looks like a bizarre Muppet!

-FUPPETS- Loves The Microscopic World!!!

Hell to the fuck yeah. -FUPPETS- is on a microscopy kick today, and as such is bringing you some beautiful images of cells, as seen through scanning electron microscopes. Some of these are colored for your pleasure. Click on each to enlarge.

Worlds Most Advanced Microscope Unveiled

The image above is an extreme close up of aluminum alloy, the kind used in beverage cans, seen in an insane 14 million times magnification. Those are individual atoms you see arranged in their crystalline structure. In the key on the lower left you can see what is the equivalent of one nanometer, or one BILLIONTH of a meter, or one MILLIONTH of a millimeter if that makes it easier to imagine. That is incredibly tiny.

The microscope that made the image above is called The Titan 80-300 Cubed, and is located at McMaster University in Canada. The new Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy at McMaster will analyze

at the nano level hundreds of everyday products in order to understand, manipulate and improve their efficiency, says John Preston, director of McMaster's Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research.

Man that is some amazing shit. -FUPPETS- has always appreciated the amazing, near magical quality of these electron and scanning tunneling microscopes. Don't let anyone tell you the human race is not clever as all fuck. Long live science. Below is an image of a science hottie using the aforementioned new microscope.
