Worlds Most Advanced Microscope Unveiled

The image above is an extreme close up of aluminum alloy, the kind used in beverage cans, seen in an insane 14 million times magnification. Those are individual atoms you see arranged in their crystalline structure. In the key on the lower left you can see what is the equivalent of one nanometer, or one BILLIONTH of a meter, or one MILLIONTH of a millimeter if that makes it easier to imagine. That is incredibly tiny.

The microscope that made the image above is called The Titan 80-300 Cubed, and is located at McMaster University in Canada. The new Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy at McMaster will analyze

at the nano level hundreds of everyday products in order to understand, manipulate and improve their efficiency, says John Preston, director of McMaster's Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research.

Man that is some amazing shit. -FUPPETS- has always appreciated the amazing, near magical quality of these electron and scanning tunneling microscopes. Don't let anyone tell you the human race is not clever as all fuck. Long live science. Below is an image of a science hottie using the aforementioned new microscope.
